Trefethen 2016 Dry Riesling, Oak Knoll Dist. of Napa Valley: Known mostly for their big reds and Sauvignon Blanc Trefethen has been producing dry Riesling in the Napa Valley since 1976! Made in the classic Alsatian style, this dry Riesling has a captivating nose, offering perfumed aromas of jasmine and orange blossom. The palate is juicy, with notes of guava, lime, and green apple, balanced by lashings of bright acidity and minerality. Pair with Thai curries or Vietnamese dishes.

Peter Mathis 2012 Grenache, Sonoma Valley: Peter Mathis, a furniture craftsman originally- began making wine for Ravenswood in 1990. In 1999 he found a spot in the hills above the Sonoma Mission Inn to clear and plant his vineyard of primarily Grenache. He uses French Grenache clones 513 and 515 which produce smaller, more concentrated berries than the clones more typically planted in California. Instead of the more conventional companions to Grenache, Mathis uses Petite Sirah, Carignane, and Alicante Bouchet that fair a little better in the climate. His 2012 Grenache contains 11% Petite Sirah, 3% Carignane, and 1% Alicante, and is aged for 28 months in neutral French oak barrels. Offering aromas of fresh raspberry, white pepper, and thyme, this wine is a fresh and vibrant style: no cooked or overextracted qualities whatsoever. The palate follows with cherry compote, dried currants, and a bright zing of acidity, with soft tannins. Pair with grilled Mexican Chorizo.

Matchlock 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles: Matchlock is one of the brands offered by Winc Wines. This Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced partly from the sandy loam soils of the Highlands District of Paso Robles and partly from Willow Creek. It’s a harmonious blend of fresh, fruit-forward aromas and dense, tannic expression. Aged in neutral French oak, this wine reveals aromas of ripe strawberry, black cherry, and baking spice. The texture is full-bodied and structured, with a relatively fresh finish. Pair with a burger and fries!
