This week we’ll be pouring:
Garofoli 2015 Pecorino, Falerio Pecorino DOC: the Garofoli family has been making wine in the Marches region since 1901. Today they farm about 50 Hectares of vineyards, and produce many style of red and white wines. Their 2015 Pecorino (yes, from the same place as the cheese) comes from the hilly area around Ascoli. The wine was fermented and matured in stainless steel, resulting in a beautifully aromatic dry white, showing notes of pear, green fruit, and exotic fruits. Pairs ideally with fish and shellfish dishes.
Foxen 2014 Pinot Noir, Santa Maria Valley: Founded in 1985 by Dick Doré and Bill Wathen, Foxen Vineyard & Winery is sustainable and solar-powered! Their 2014 Santa Maria Valley appellation blend Pinot Noir is a deep and dark creature, showing aromas of smoked beef, hearty berries, and forest floor. The palate is soft with tart raspberry, pomegranate, and more carnivorous notes, and a mineral and dried herb finish. Pair with roast lamb.
Chappellet 2014 Mtn. Cuvée, Napa County: More than four decades ago, Donn and Molly Chappellet settled on Pritchard Hill, overlooking Napa Valley’s Lake Hennessey. In 1967, they planted their vines on the rocky slopes and built their pyramid-shaped winery, becoming the first winery to plant vineyards exclusively on high-elevation hillsides. Their 2014 Mountain Cuvée is a blend of 43% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot, 7% Malbec, and 5% Cabernet Franc. It shows rich aromas of blackberry and blueberry, followed by baking spices, toasted oak, black pepper, and bay leaf. Black cherry and cassis coat the mouth voluptuously, leading to a fine, lingering finish.All News »
